An Introduction to The Platform for the Restoration of the Student Body

Gavin Keirans and Hillary Gupta are the most accomplished and successful ticket in the history of UPUA. Both have been premiere student leaders since their Freshman Year. Through collaborating together this year with Keirans as UPUA President and Gupta as Programming Chair, they were able to spearhead a memorable year in student governance. While others may talk of ideas, Keirans and Gupta can point to a long list of accomplishments. This run by Keirans and Gupta is not about furthering themselves, but furthering their commitment to a true Student Body.

Changing the Culture
- President Keirans will speak with every Freshman in their dorms, highlighting what it means to be a Penn Stater, through mixing historical and current experiences of the Student Body.
- Restore the All-College Cabinet which served as the governance of Penn State during the 1940s and 50s. This will serve as the Executive Board of UPUA made up of the Presidents from all premiere student organizations.
- Create the first ever “Living Legends” Event that will team up student organizations and prominent Penn Staters to read the Nine legends of Penn State mentioned in the fight song, “The Nittany Lion.” This will bring together current and past student bodies.
- Monthly meetings with a member of the Penn State Board of Trustees, that will create a lasting tradition of Trustees meeting with current student Leaders.
- Hold a Freshman-wide elections for the two Freshman Representative seats during the fall semester, highlighted by a Freshman Festival in East Halls.

On-Campus Student Outreach
- Have Free Legal Services Up and Running by the fall semester, fulfilling the chief goal of Keirans’ first term in conjunction with the Office of Student Affairs and the Dickinson School of Law.
- Create a Swipe Card System for all Student Organization Offices.
- Explore ways to improve the current ASA process, including a trial run of a purchasing card system.
- New means of Free Music Service by working with SAC-ITS
- Offer Free Tax Service Clinics by teaming up with the SMEAL College of Business
- Investigate Free Identity Theft Protection for Students, Faculty and Administrators like that of LSU
- Uniform Academic Integrity Standards for all Academic colleges by teaming with the Faculty Senate
- Weekly Video Blogs and Centre Daily Time Blog

Off-Campus Initiatives
- Have the Tenant-Landlord & Tenant-Tenant Mediation ran in conjunction with the Department of Off Campus Living with landlords pledging to participate in Good faith mediation ahead of time.
- Implement a “Good Samaritan Policy” both On Campus and Off, by teaming up with UPUA Legal Affairs and the IFC
- Restore a Greek Loop that will run down fraternity row during Weekends, ensuring safe travels, especially for East Hall’s students.
- Create an Online Renter’s Guide that will allow students to rate experience with buildings and landlords, comparable to Ratemyprofessor.com
- Explore the idea of an Off Campus meal plan, teaming up with downtown businesses.
